The event sits within a highly specialised GIS audience, requiring a visual identity that feels credible within a technical space while still being distinctive, engaging, and memorable. Generic event branding gets ignored; aggressively non-technical branding loses credibility — the visual system had to walk both lines at once.
The system needed to translate complex geospatial concepts into a clear, accessible event narrative without losing its professional authority. Attendees range from city planners to government data leads to enterprise IT — each one needs to see themselves in the brand.
Across the event toolkit (key visual, signage, motion, social), the identity had to flex from technical-deep contexts (session graphics, conference decks) to high-energy contexts (opening reels, networking moments) without breaking voice.
The identity draws from terrain and topographical forms, grounding the brand in the concept of "grounded horizons" — earth-toned greens paired with expansive blues to represent stability and possibility. The palette pulls directly from the maps the audience works with every day, so the brand feels native to the room.
The key visual expresses how Esri transforms complex geospatial data into clarity and actionable insight, capturing the essence of GeoInnovation as "the Science of Where" turned into opportunity.
Motion was used sparingly across the event toolkit — opening logos, transition stings, key-moment reveals — so the identity stays calm and considered in the rooms that need it most, while still having the energy reserves for the high-engagement moments.
