+Introduction

A key visual and motion system for Maxell — built around three product values (speed, power, durability) to help the Japanese consumer electronics brand stand out in a category dominated by visual-first competitors with louder advertising and bigger budgets.

+Challenges

Maxell's category is loud. Industry peers had already invested heavily in product visuals, leaving Maxell to fight for attention against a saturated visual landscape — every brand running performance benchmarks, every brand running speed claims, every brand running spec lists.

The brief was to find a way to express the product values without resorting to feature-list collateral — a system anchored on what Maxell stands for (speed, performance, durability), and one that worked equally hard across static and motion.

Each piece had to compress into short-form digital units — banner ads, social cards, autoplay loops — without losing the conceptual depth that made the system feel different from competitor messaging at first glance.

+Final thoughts

We anchored the work on three metaphors that translate the values directly: Light, for the breakneck speed of the products; Rocket Engines, for immense power and performance; and Ground Shattering, for the durability that protects against shock and impact.

Each metaphor was developed across art direction, key visuals, and short-form animations the brand could deploy across digital surfaces. The result is a Maxell visual language that earns attention on its own terms — not by being louder, but by being clearer about what the brand actually delivers.

Motion was kept tight and purposeful — every loop has a job, every transition resolves into a brand moment. The system is built to extend across future product launches in the range without rebuilding the conceptual framework.

Maxell's value-led visual system gives the brand a future-proof framework — new product categories, new technology stories, new launches can all extend from the same Light / Power / Durability metaphor language.
